Worship Ministry

Worship is at the very heart of Christ Community Church. It is where we unite with others in giving praise to God while learning and growing together in community. It is a time of celebrating God's goodness and grace and finding spiritual renewal and refreshment.

Just as the people of Christ Community Church are very diverse, so too is our worship experience. Multiple forms of artistic expression are integral to our worship experience. We strive to make use of the many and varied musical and artistic gifts that are a part of the community. Our desire is not to get “locked in” to a particular style, rather to make use of a wide range of expression to keep services fresh and relevant.

Don't be surprised to hear a recent worship song, sung by a team of vocalists or a choir that sings on occasion. Don't be surprised to hear a rousing organ prelude played on one of the largest pipe organs in mid-Michigan and a closing song that features guitars and drums. We take seriously Psalm 150 where it says: “Let everything that has life and breathe praise the Lord!”

Choir

The Choir sings on an occasional basis using a wide variety of musical styles. It also allows more people the opportunity to use their musical gifts in concert with others. The “Young at Heart” (YAH) Singers is a group of older adults that sing on special occasions at churches, nursing homes, the State Capitol and other states around the nation. Every fall, this choir goes on a major road trip. This year, they will be on a 10 day tour of the Southeastern United States.

Children's Ministry

The overall goal of the Children's Ministry is to be a positive place where kids have fun, learn about God and experience God's love. Our goal is not to have kids “sit still and be quiet”, but to instead have them eager to learn more about God.

At Christ Community Church, the Children's Hour is at the same time as morning worship. As parents are enjoying worship designed for them, they can know that their children are in a safe well supervised environment where they are having a great time learning about God. We make use of toys, games, music, art, video, puppets and creative biblical teaching in a language kids can understand.

Infants – 4 Years Old

Infants through 4 years old children meet on the second floor of the Children's Center. We are deeply concerned about the safety of all, so we ask that parents check-in their children every Sunday. Nursery workers are eager to hear about any special needs your child may have and can be documented on the check-in information.

Kindergarten - 5th Grade

Children entering Kindergarten through 5th Grade meet in the Children's Chapel on the first floor of the Children's Center. They begin their time together with Children’s Worship, followed by crafts, activities, and Bible stories.

Note: Parents are welcome to take their children into the worship service with them. We kindly ask that parents with crying children make use of the cry area at the rear of the sanctuary. We also request that parents not bring children that are sick into the children's area in order to keeps sniffles and colds from spreading. Thank you!

Congregational Care Ministry

There are times when all of us could use a hand....like when we have to deal with illness, injury or the death of a loved one. There are also times when we need counseling, emotional support or guidance. This is when the Care Ministries at Christ Community Church are there to support you during your time of need.

Missions Ministry

At Christ Community Church, we know that a major reason we exist is to make a difference outside of our walls. We seek to impact peoples lives in the name of Christ, locally and around the world. A few examples… We are active in Christian Services, meeting the needs of Lansing residents. We actively participate in Samaritan's Purse and we support Drs. Rick and Anita Gutierrez who are both medical doctors serving the neediest populations in South Africa.

Hospitality Ministry

The Hospitality Ministry at Christ Community Church is responsible for after church refreshments, congregational receptions, funeral luncheons, etc. This group plays an important role in community building.

Prayer Ministry

The Prayer Team meets every Sunday morning at 9:15 in the library to pray for the church ministry, as well as for individual prayer concerns submitted to the team.

Building & Grounds Ministry

God has given us an amazing old building from which to do ministry. Yet, with an old, historic building comes a lot of upkeep. If you are handy with a hammer or paint brush, have special handyman/woman skills, have the gift of cleaning or you know how to screw in a light bulb in a socket, we have got a place for you!
